Bhatoora Recipe

Bhatoora is a fluffy deep- fried leavened bread from North India. It is often eaten with chole or chane, making it a traditional dish known as "Chole Bhatoore".

  • All purpose flour - 2 cups
  • Semolina - 3 Tsp
  • Curd - 1/4 cup
  • Salt - 1 tsp
  • Sugar - 1/2 tsp
  • Oil - 2 Tsp
  • Lukewarm water for kneading
  • Oil for Frying


Add all the ingredients in a Large bowl and knead a soft dough with the help of water as needed.

Cover with a wet towel and set it aside for 2-3 hours in warm place.

Knead the dough again for 4-5 min to make it smooth. Divide the dough in equal parts & make lemon size balls and roll in to thick round shape rotis (4-5 inch).

Heat oil in a heavy bottomed vessel, once the oil is hot deep fry the Bhatoora in the same way as you fry the pooris.

Fry the Bhatoora till golden brown.Remove on to the kitchen paper napkin to remove excess oil.

Serve the hot Bhatoora with Chole or Channa with slice of lemon & finely chopped onion.
